Men's liberation movement
Actor Swapnil Joshi was caught up in his chocolate-boy image till he decided to do something more funky and bizarre. So, for the costume round for a new reality-based comedy show Comedy Circus, he decided to spoof Rakhi Sawant in a big way. For 10 days he watched 'Rakhi CDs' living, talking, yelling and walking like her. He practiced walking on stilettos to get the act right. For a picture-perfect look he went ahead and waxed his legs, arms, under-arms and tweaked his eye-brows.
Swapnil says, "When I got out of my make-up van, 60 per cent of the people didn't recognise me, some men around even ogled at me! Some of them wanted a hug from me! Rakhi is a brand and with all this make-over I had to do stand-up comedy and talk fast like her. After this episode, I think she's the hero in this man's world!” “Imagine women go through this process every month. My respect for women has grown 10 times. When finally I got a resounding applause and I heard the oohs and aahs I knew the pain was all worth it! I'd do something whacky like this again to get out of the rut," added the actor.
